What Is Unique About Critter Assisted Therapy ?

Critterish Allsorts, through Critter Assisted Therapy, are unique, in their approach to Animal Assisted Therapy and in the animals used. Not only do we use the usual cats and dogs, but we also use many other species, including a multitude of exotic animals, in our work. We truly believe that each client finds their own, individual therapy animal, unique to them, and we aim to facilitate that. Pet Therapy works with the disabled

We are currently offering Pet Therapy and Animal Assisted Therapy and Activities to both public and private sectors, as well as to individuals. Sessions can take place on an individual or group basis.

We offer our therapy services at your home, school, hospital or workplace and we can also attend group support meetings. We will soon be able to offer services in our own private consulting rooms.

All services are offered, subject to a FREE initial consult and assessment for suitability of treatment with Animal Assisted Therapy

All prices subject to a fuel surcharge of 40p per mile if outside of a 30 mile radius of our base

We will soon be able to communicate with your residents, patients or pupils using basic British Sign Language (BSL) – we can currently spell and count to 10 using BSL…we will let you know as we progress.

Animal Assisted Activities (from £150)

Animal Assisted Activities have no specific or measurable treatment goal.

This is what animal assisted therapy can do for somebody with dementia – Jim (81) drew & coloured this montage of our animals that have visited him. He has severe dementia and cannot leave his room, our visits are extremely important to him and have an obvious effect

Animal Assisted Activities involve physical interaction with an animal, and are ideal for the disabled, the elderly and those with mobility problems. They are also a wonderful way of improving confidence and self esteem, through teaching the value that one can add through positive involvement with another being. In addition, animal assisted activities can be used to improve patient motivation and morale – especially within secure environments. We can also provide you with reading animals !!

Animal Assisted Therapy (from £150)

Animal Assisted Therapy is goal oriented and sessions are designed to reach a specific and measurable treatment goal or target, whether it is physical, emotional, social or mental. Results are typically achieved over a period of time through regular sessions. (We would envisage 5-10 sessions)

Animal Assisted Therapy is the use of animals within a therapist/patient environment. The animal helps with relaxation and focus, leading to a more mutually beneficial, relaxed, and positive session. The animal intervention is used together with a chosen therapy technique, in order to get the most positive outcome for the client. The main therapy techniques used by Critter Assisted Therapy are Solution Focussed Therapy and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) – both very positive and solution rather than problem focussed.
